To Phentermine, or not to phentermine, that is the question

Tightening belt from weight loss

For awhile now, my doctor has been bugging me about how I need to lose weight etc. I finally caved in the last time I went to see her when the scale couldn’t weigh me because I weighed more than the scale could measure. For the record, the scale tops out at 400lbs.

Coincidentally, that’s also the time I decided to reboot this blog and reboot my training.

My doctor said “sometimes, people need some help getting started” and recommended that I start take Phentermine as an appetite suppressant to sort of kick things off.

I’ve taken phentermine before and had mixed results. I’ve also read that it’s an amphetamine and remember way back, when it was part of the phen-fen drug, that caused damage to heart valves among other things.

But, like my doctor said, sometimes people need help getting started and kicking off their weight loss. I don’t have high blood pressure, or high cholesterol nor am I diabetic. From a blood chemistry stand point, I’m in good shape, so do I really need to take the pills?

Let me put it to you this way, I’d rather take a pill, then have someone cut into my gut to put a band around my stomach, or cut a chunk of my stomach off. Ultimately, it comes down to preference, doesn’t it?

I know the weight didn’t come on overnight, and it certainly won’t come off overnight, but I think a little kickstart isn’t an altogether bad thing, n’est pas?

By the way, I feel like I should say this, you should talk to your doctor before you start taking any pills for weight loss. This is just my experience and my opinion, your mileage may vary.
