I heard, from various sources, of a new running store opening up in San Marcos “on the square.” The store is called “Core Running Company. They had a soft opening yesterday, which I couldn’t attend, but I went there today to check them out.

I think I’ve found my new shoe place.

For years, I’ve been a Zappos.com customer. I love their customer service and their speed. However, whenever I needed to talk to a person and interact with someone about my purchase, I’d go to Runtex in Austin.

Well, I think I’m done with all of that.

I met Greg, the owner, and he was great. He knows his shoes. He was super friendly, very down to earth, and best of all, he didn’t make me feel silly when I was talking about running shoes. The last time I went to Runtex, methinks it was in 2008, the sales person was a little too “I don’t believe that you run at all, look at you, you’re fat!” for my taste.

Greg was awesome.

If you live in Kyle, Buda, San Marcos, heck even New Braunfels you owe it to yourself to go check out Core Running in San Marcos and support a locally owned and operated business.
