Where have I been? A Summary of 2010

Purgatory Trail

Where have I been? It seems like the best answer to that question is simply: “getting fatter.” Seriously, I’m at my heaviest weight ever. This is not a good thing. Every time I take a break from running, I reach new new “heaviest weight ever.” Eventhough it may sound like I’m joking about this, I’m really not.

Now is the time for me to get in better shape and lose some weight.

I have decided that this is the year that I will finally run an ultra. I’ve been talking to a trainer and been going to the gym and walking on the dreaded treadmill.

This weekend, I plan on buying some new shoes so I can go out on the trails again and kick my getting in shape up a notch.

I’ve looked at the race schedule and have worked out, what I believe, to be a workable plan. Now comes the hard part, actually putting soul to sole, hitting the trails and training. There’s no substitute for time on trail and putting in the work and the effort.

Just for the sake of nostalgia, and to give you a sense of how active I was in 2010, here’s the summary for this blog:

In 2010 I wrote 18 posts and added 1 pages to this blog, with 25 attachments in total.

The number of posts in each month:

January: 3 (16.67%)
February: 5 (27.78%)
April: 2 (11.11%)
May: 1 (5.56%)
June: 1 (5.56%)
July: 4 (22.22%)
September: 2 (11.11%)
November: 1 (5.56%)

Interestingly, the number of posts is about equal to the number of time I actually got out on trail in 2010. Here’s a look at the size of my gut during Christmas 2010.

Enough about the past.

Here’s looking forward to a more active, more fun, more fit 2011!
