This morning’s Austin Fit run was hard. We had to stand around in the cold for a bit while the seminar on how to prepare for the marathon was going on. By prepare, they meant what to pack, what to eat, what to wear and so on. The run was hard because my legs were still very tired and the course was a bit hilly. I stepped weird somewhere and was having knee pain in my right leg, but so was Monica, so I ended up walk/running with her and her fiance for a bit. We went up the long hill on wookie or whatever the name of the street was and then ran pretty much all the way back. After the run, I went to breakfast with the rest of the coaches and some runners. Thank you for breakfast Patsy. The service at casa Garcia’s was really bad at the beginning, but after Monica said something about it to the manager, service was greatly improved. Here are the details for today’s run:
Terrain: Hike and Bike trail and asphalt
Distance: 8.2 miles
Time: 1:57:45
Course:
0.0 – Cross the Congress Avenue bridge to the north side of the trail. Head west to the rock (Mopac footbridge).
2.5 – Cross the footbridge and turn left on the trail heading east.
3.5 – Cross the 2nd footbridge (arched, over the waterway coming from Barton Springs pool) and turn right. Cross Barton Springs Rd. to Robert E. Lee Rd.
4.1 – Right on Barton Hills Rd.
5.1 – Left on Wilkie.
5.4 – Left on Rabb.
5.9 – Left on Melridge; turns into Robert E. Lee. Return to the trail and follow it east, back to Austin Fit.
8.2 – Austin Fit.
Noteworthy: It was a hard run today, but it seems that I don’t really get warmed up until after about 5 or 6 miles worth of running. Weird stuff.
