Body Pump At The YMCA

Ouch.

My hunnay talked me into taking my first ever body pump class yesterday at the YMCA in Buda and all I can muster is “ouch.” Actually, I can muster more than that, but I want to try to keep this blog rated PG-13.

If you’re like I was yesterday, when I woke up, and have no clue what a “body pump” class is all about, let me tell you that it’s a great whole body workout. You work one part of your body, be it triceps, back, abs, quads at a time throughout the workout.

You start off with an easy warm up, then move to a part of your body, then to another part, and so on. From what I understand, every class is a little different, and the moves are changed out every 3-4 months. This is to try to keep the classes from being too repetitive and boring.

Did I mention the part that you do the entire workout with weights? 20 lbs doesn’t seem like much, until you’re lifting it over your head for the 300th time. Then, it seems like it weighs 300lbs instead of 20lbs.

I can barely move today.

To pay my sweet hunnay back, I took her out to Purgatory today. She was complaining that her calves hurt, and her legs hurt, etc. I was secretly enjoying that (not really, well maybe just a little) since my everything hurts.

I’m going to try to take the body pump class on a regular basis from here on out since it’s great for cross training. Plus, I think I need to continue exercising to make the pain go away.

Regardless, we had a good time on trail.

Thanks for the description. We have the class at my Y, but it’s new, so no online description of the class.

I love the class, just don’t over do it on your first day! Good luck!
