This was something that I was not expecting. Yesterday, I went out to the Barton Creek Greenbelt for a quick trail run. The last time I was there, I went at a certain pace over the 3 mile distance. By the end of the run, I was exhausted and super tired. I mean just about every part of my body hurt.
Yesterday, not so much.
Yesterday, I felt great the whole time I was out there. I felt strong going up the hills, and felt just fine when I was running in the flats. I could’ve sworn that I was going to beat my time from last week by a lot.
Not really.
I only beat my time from last week by 45 seconds. I don’t understand what happened.
How could I have felt so much better on the outing, but still only be 45 seconds faster? Michelle says I should be happy that I was out there and she’s right. I just can’t help but shake this notion that I should’ve been faster than I was.
On the plus side, the Brooks Beast that I bought at Core running in San Marcos have been working great. They’re not exactly trail running shoes, but they’re perfect for me and my running gate.
Those shoes rank right near the top of the list of best purchases I’ve ever made.
