Town lake run

Yesterday evening, things conspired to make it possible for me to have the evening all to myself. Because of this, I decided to go to town lake for a nice long run. I hadn’t done a long run in awhile, so I wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to do so. At first, I was thinking of doing 7 miles by first doing the 4 mile loop, and then the 3 mile loop.

While I was on my way out, I decided that I was not going to do the double loop because it would allow me the opportunity to quit after the 4 miles. I called an audible, and decided to just do the 6.9 mile loop out to I-35 and back to Mopac. Let me put it this way, it hurt.

I can’t tell you what exactly about the deal made it so hard to do, but it hurt to do it. My lungs felt fine, overall my legs were fine, the feet were OK, but the run itself was freaking hard. Dunno if it was the humidity, the dust, that I was fatigued or what, but it was not a fun run.
Needless to say, I decided that I need to run that more often in order to beat it. I also decided that I was going to get serious about running in the mornings and getting back into a shape that will allow me to complete the rogue 30k in semi-decent shape.

When I was swimming this morning, I came pretty close to committing to doing a double cap10k. Getting down to the 10k site at about 6, running the course in reverse and then running in the regular race. That should be good training.

Stats:
Distance: 6.9 miles
Time: 1:37.11
Pace: really, really slow with lots of walking
Noteworthy: the run sucked badly, actually, the run was fine, I was the one that was sucking badly. Need to run more to get back in shape. I ran into my college roommate Geoff and we had some beers after the run.
