This morning’s Austin Fit run

I almost missed my run this morning. When I got to the gathering place, all the speeches were done with and the different color groups were gathered and were already leaving to go on their runs. I almost left to go run on the greenbelt, but decided to go see if the orange group was still there. They were, and I quickly found that I was to run with the 11:15 group again today. After a quick detour to my car to trade watches I got going down the hike and bike trail with my group.
Today’s route, took us out from TxDOT, to Congress, over the river and then west on the trail towards the rock. From the rock, we crossed over again and went down the trail to the second pedestrian bridge, from there we went right. Up Red Bud, to Barton Hills drive, down to Wilke and up the Wilke hill. I like this hill, but I love HOL. Thanks to HOL I was able to run up this hill no problem. What, with no rocks, no uneven terrain, nothing to worry about, I just ran up it like it ain’t no thing, and it was no thing. It was funny to see all the road runners huffin, puffin and walkin up this hill. After the hill, we went left on Rabb, and we eventually ended up on Red Bud again and went back to the trail and back to TxDOT.
All in all, it was a good run. At the beginning, I had my usual bowel movement issues, but after I got all of that settled, I was able to run pretty well. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention the dry heave spell I had on Barton Hills. At the end of the run, I felt like I could’ve kept going, and I should’ve kept going for a bit, but I didn’t. I just stretched, hung out for a bit, talked and then went on with my day.
Run stats:
Distance: 8.2 miles
Time: 1:48:00
Noteworthy: I think 11:15 is too fast for me, I’m going to tag along with either the 11:30- 11:45 group and just call it a day. Either that, or figure out how to get warmed up earlier and get my bowel movement issues under control.
