This little questionnaire thing is making the rounds, so I figured I’d answer it here.
What is your favorite type of cross training?
I will have to say that the Les Mills Body Pump that I do on Mondays and Saturdays, coupled with Powerpump on Wednesdays are my favorite cross training exercises. Both are instructor led classes at the YMCA in Buda.
What is your favorite song to run to?
This is a tough one, since I run with a list. There is one song that seems to work at getting me going better than the others and it “Sounds of San Francisco” by Global Deejays.
What brand of shoes do you wear?
Brooks
Do you wear a hat when you run?
No hat. I look really goofy in hats. I may wear a beany hat when it’s really cold, but I usually take it off after a bit.
What temperature is your favorite for running?
50-60 degrees with a light drizzle and maybe even some fog. Unfortunately, since I live in Texas, most of my running is in the sun when it’s 100 degrees out.
Do you have any big races coming up?
No races right now. I’m too broke to pay rego fees and travel to the cool races that I want to do.
What is your favorite distance?
30k on trail is my favorite distance. I would still like to complete an ultra marathon though.
Are you a morning, noon or evening runner?
You know what they say about ultra runners, they do it all day long. Seriously though, I don’t have a preference, although late afternoon/ early evening works best with my schedule.
Do you run solo or with a buddy?
Solo, no one wants to come run in the heat.
What’s your favorite post run snack?
Probably a banana, or these little Russian chocolate cookies, they are the bomb-diggity. Although perhaps not technically a “snack” I do enjoy a cold beer after a run very much.
What’s your FAVORITE race?
I ran “The Belt” 30k a couple of years back. I liked it better than the marathon because it was all on trail in the Barton Creek Greenbelt.
Do you wear a Garmin? If not, how do you track your runs?
No Garmin, I use Runkeeper on my iPhone to track my runs. I also wear a separate heart rate monitor to keep track of my heart rate and calorie burn.
What is your least favorite race?
The Thundercloud sub Turkey Trot. It’s a 5 mile pavement pounder. I hate it because the first time I went to do it, I thought it was a 5k (3.1 miles). I’ve done it several times with friends and by myself but it’s still my least favorite race. I don’t know why I did it more than once.
How long have you been a runner?
I first started running “seriously” in 2003 while training for the Austin marathon. I’ve been off and on since then. Until I started training for the marathon, running was a punishment for something else. Now, running is the reward. Funny how things turn out.
What’s your favorite workout? repeats? long runs? tempo? fartlek?
I love me some fartleks, but I much prefer hills and long runs to anything else. Nothing beats the feeling of “I just ran xx miles” except for maybe cresting hills in the greenbelt.
Now, it’s your turn to answer this running survey.
