4.6 Miles In The Barton Creek Greenbelt

It’s a few days late, but here’s a quick little picture post from my long run in the Barton Creek Greenbelt this past weekend. It’s the longest run I’ve done in awhile and it was great.

I decided to go southbound on the trail towards Hill of Life, instead of my usual northbound route going towards the Gus Fruh entrance. One of my favorite things about this route is running under MOPAC.

The day was beautiful, nary a cloud in the sky, a nice breeze and a nice temperature to boot. Little did I know that Bastrop was burning when I was out there running, but that’s another story.

The biggest shocker, was seeing the state of one my favorite swimming holes:

Yep, it was bone dry. There was still no water anywhere down there, which made for a dusty run, but it still fun nonetheless. I love running the Barton Creek Greenbelt. I think that the next time I come out here, I’ll make the trek over to Hill of Life.

Running over to HOL from the trail head where I started from, is an 8 mile round trip, which will be doable in a couple of weeks.

I was not very creative with the route, just a simple out and back for 4.6 miles and a calorie burn of 1556 calories.
