2012 Running Goals

I probably should’ve written this running goals post a couple of days ago, but whatever. I figure, as long as it’s still the first week of the year it’s all good.

I decided on a big mileage goal for this year since last year, I ran about 350 miles total. To some of you, that’s a slow month, but to me, it was a decent amount. It’s actually off quite a bit from my all time high mileage, but that’s a story for another day.

My big goal for 2012, is to run 1000 miles in the year. It works out to an average of a little under 20 miles a week for the year.

I know that there will be weeks when I will come nowhere near that number of miles, and there will be weeks where I will far surpass that mileage. I hope.

I need to decide on what races I’m going to run, and I also need to figure out how I’m going to pay for the whole thing. Here are my fitness and running goals for the year, in bullet form:

  • Run 1000 miles.
  • Continue body pump, at least once a week.
  • Lose, at least, another 50lbs of body weight by eating better.
  • Complete at least a 10k, and then a 25k race, and seriously consider a 50k.
  • Write 30 posts for this blog.

Nice and simple like that. To me, accomplishing these goals will bring me closer to my ultimate

What are your goals for the year?

Those are some outstanding goals, Rafael! Methinks with those snazzy new Vibrams you got, you’ll meet or exceed them all in 2012.

As for my goals this year, I hope to:
    1. Lose another 20-30 lbs and a few more inches off of my waist.
    2. Maintain my workout routine (I’ve got a bad habit of getting lazy)
    3. Keep podcastin’ and bloggin’
    4. Afford better equipment for said podcasting/blogging
    5. Run the 2012 Turkey Trot in less than 90 minutes
