After a long, long hiatus from running at Purgatory Creek part in San Marcos, I made it out there yesterday for a run. How things have changed since the last time I was out.
First, most of the soft dirt is gone. So, for the most part, you’re running on decent sized rocks on all of the man made portions of the trail. The natural parts of the trail are fine, it’s just the portions of the trail that were man built that are all messed up like this.
The weeds were really overgrown throughout a large portion of the natural section of the trails.
Those weeds are taller than I am.
I kept hearing bees and other insects buzzing around me and that’s one of things that really freaks me out when I’m out on trail.
This guy, was riding a funky looking bike out on trail. He kept getting stuck in places and I almost offered to help get him out of a few spots thinking that maybe it was a handicapped person riding a specialized bike but then I figured that if they needed help they’d ask for it. Turns out, it was a big brawny Ex(?) Marine that certainly did not need any help.
All in all, it was a fun outing.
Total distance: 1.87 miles
Temp: 90 Degrees F
Review: Ouch, my feet hurt from all the rocks. Other than that, it was a great outing.
