Hill of life repeats, yeehaw!

4 January 2009 One Comment

I went out to hill of life yesterday after work. It had been raining, and the trail was closed. No matter, I jumped the fence and started down the hill. At some point on my way down, scampering over the rocks, I understood why the trail was closed. There were lots of loose rocks and it was way muddy. Other than 1 guy and his dogs that I saw on the way down, I had the whole mountain to myself.

I was not feeling like running hills at all earlier in the day. I was en route to the greenbelt and had planned on running the 2.5 miles out to spyglass and back. In fact, just before I left to go run, my stomach was feeling really queezy, to the point that I thought about not running at all.

After I was in the car, I got all pissed off at traffic, and just veered off to HOL. Since I was there, I decided to run HOL repeats for the first time ever. I did 4 of them and by the time I was done, my legs felt like spaghetti. I had doubts about being able to jump the fence and get back out, but I managed. I liked doing repeats, so I think I’ll be adding more of them to my regular training routine.

Run Stats:
Distance: Approx 3 miles done in repeats of the hill of life
Time: 44 minutes
Noteworthy: Had to jump the fence since the trail was closed, but I did have the hill to myself. Like I told the guy going up the hill as I was heading down it “this is how you know you’re hard core”.
