Sunday Training Run

21 July 2008 No Comment

Yesterday, after I took my son back to his mom’s, I went out to Town Lake for a run. I decided to run the 4 mile loop on the east side of I-35.

The loop goes from I-35, out to Longhorn Dam, over the Dam, up Pleasant Valley Rd, then along Lakeshore Blvd, up to Riverside Dr, then back to I-35. I think the temperature was somewhere near 100 degrees, and I didn’t get started on trail until about 6:30 pm.

I was dying.

Maybe because of how far out of shape I am, or maybe it was because it was hotter than hades. Whatever the reason, it was a hard run. The sun was in my face for a good portion of it, the wind was hot, I was sweating like crazy.

It was the best run EVER!

I remembered how much I enjoy running and being outside. I remembered how much fun it is to feel alive and feel the soreness of having exercised.

It was awesome.

The run renewed my commitment to running and to getting in better shape.

I’ll leave you with this thought about something that I noticed, or realized when I was out there running. It is just something about how fat I am. You know how you know that you’re fat? When you’re a guy, and you’re out running, and your boobs bounce more than the girl’s boobs that are out there running as well.
