Swim or Run?

These last couple of weeks I’ve come to realize something.  This may not be news to other people, but it’s definitely news to me. I’ve realized, that I’m a much better swimmer than I am a runner.

I know, I know.  My girlfriend said “well, d’uh” when I told her my realization.  It makes me think that this may have been obvious to other people as well.

I think that part of it is that I was a highly competetive swimmer, and I’ve never been a competetive runner.  Even as fat as I am now, I can still bring it when it comes time to prepare for a swim meet.

My realization got me to thinking, should I hang up my running shoes and just swim, or should I run and swim?  It’s a hard question for me to answer since I enjoy both activities a lot.  I wish I had enough time to do them both, but reality is that I only have time to do one or the other.

So, my question to you is:

Should I run or swim?

I’ll take a poll on that.

D’uh, swim. Easier on your joints, and did you see the 60 minutes interview with Phelps? Swimmers get to eat 10,000 calories a day!

They do, but they need to remember to stop eating that much when they stop swimming. That’s how I ended up with my current figure.
