Big medicine tv show

Last night I caught an episode of this show. It had been awhile since I watched an episode of big medicine simply because the therapist on the show, who is a woman, wears ties around her bare neck. That just bothered me.

Anyway, the episode I caught invovled moving a dude from his house to the hospital. The guy lost 250lbs and was down to 650lbs. He was finally at a weight that they could operate at. The guy was bedridden and had a tube in his throat so he could breath. He looked like Jabba the Hut.

The other 2 story lines involved 2 females.

One of them was about an 18 ear old female who lost weight and got about 5 lbs of loose skin cut off. The other story was about a lady that had the stomach bypass done and had so far lost 167lbs in the last 6 months.

The thing that strikes me most about the show, is how big these people can get, and how easy it is to get there.

Seriously, think about it, we’re all just a big depression episode or some other tragedy away from just losing control and basically eating ourselves to death.

Fast food is everywhere and feeding us more than ever. Remember when fast food places actually had a small size meal? Now what used to be “medium” is called a “small.”

Crazy stuff.

Then, right after the big medicine show they had on some show where people talked about food addiction at some clinic in Brooklyn where they lived at.

The people on this show really pissed me off. I think it’s just a reflection about how I feel about addicts in general more than anything on the show.

I guess i’m ok with someone being fat cuz they got depressed or something happened to them etc. I’m not ok with someone claiming to be a food junkie.

To me, someone that’s depressed needs treatment whereas a junkie is just a lazy arse that needs to quit whining and stop the destructive behaviour.

Here’s the 140lb question:

Which one am I?

Am I depressed or am I a lazy food junkie?

There’s some food for thought.
